Saint Spyridon Orthodox Fellowship Group
Fellowship Mission Statement:
The St. Spyridon’s Orthodox Fellowship Group exists as a ministerial tool to help us, as St. James writes, to become “doers of the word, and not only hearers. For if anyone is a hearer of the word, and not a doer, this one is like a man observing carefully the face he was born with in a mirror; for he observed himself well, and has gone away, and straightway forgotten of what sort he was.”
The group’s mission is to provide ministry and outreach to our community. It extends an invitation to all to give of themselves and their talents to help those who are in need whether it be physical, emotional, or spiritual; namely, the poor, the homeless, the sick and suffering, single mothers, seniors, and many others.
The Fellowship Group gives its members the opportunity to be “doers of the word” in answer to Christ’s calling. The examples of the saints of the Holy Orthodox Church manifest to all an invitation to be “imitators of Christ” and His saints. They call out to the soul of the believer to experience through such ministries the Love of God for His people. It is through service and ministry to the Church that one realizes their membership in the Body of Christ and the communion of the saints. It is when the needy are understood as needed and wanted, that the Church is truly Paradise on earth – a foretaste of things and times to come when His will is done on earth as it is in heaven.
